HEALING INSTRUCTIONS:

FIRST 24 HOURS:

  • Once your session is over, a layer of ointment will be applied and your tattoo will be wrapped.

  • Remove this wrap after 2 hours. Wash with lukewarm water using Dial Gold soap. Do not use a wash cloth, just your clean hands.

  • Dial pump bottles over bar soap is preferred.

  • Pat dry with clean white paper towel until dry.

  • Do not apply lotion at this point.

  • Wash the tattoo once or twice in the first 24 hours. Usually once in the morning and once in the evening, unless you work in a dirty environment. In that case extra washes may be necessary.

AFTER THE FIRST 24 HOURS:

  • After the first 24 hours, start to incorporate a thin layer of non-scented lotion after each wash. Make sure that the skin has been dried completely before applying. Jergens Ultra Healing lotion is a solid option. You are moisturizing the skin/tattoo at this point similar to rubbing lotion on your hands. Not wet, just moisturized.

*Aquafor also works if you have successfully used it in the past. Do not use A&D ointment, neosporin or any other products like this. The non-scented soap and lotion mentioned above are all you need.

  • Wash and moisturize 2 to 3 times a day until the skin dries up and starts peeling. Do not pick at the dry skin or pull any flakes off, just let them naturally fall off. Continue this process until the tattoo is healed. Typical heal time if about 2 weeks.

WARNINGS:

*While your tattoo is healing, DO NOT:

  • Go swimming

  • Let the tattoo sit in direct sunlight

  • Touch it without washing your hands first.

*If you have pets in the house, it’s recommended to wear clean, loose clothing the entire time you’re healing, even when sleeping. Pet hair and dander directly contacting the healing tattoo can lead to infections.

*It’s recommend to avoid the gym while healing a tattoo for at least the first 3 days. If you work out at a gym, be careful about touching your tattoo with your hands or any equipment. Wash thoroughly after your work-out. If the tattoo is in the dry, peeling stage, be careful not to over-stretch the skin. This can lead to healing issues and ink loss.

POST HEAL:

  • When there is no more dry or flakey pieces on your tattoo, it’s healed!

  • Even though it’s healed, the skin will still be fresh and new so it’s still a good idea to moisturize at least once a day for a few weeks.
